Josh Lawson directs Aspen Digital’s work at the intersection of AI, democracy, and social trust. He leads the AI Elections Initiative. Before joining Aspen, Josh was an executive at Meta Platforms, Inc. (fmr. Facebook), where he led policy and product work as Head of Electoral and Emerging Risk. He previously served as chief state elections counsel in North Carolina, as an editor at the White House, and as an attorney in private practice.

Josh enjoys strategic work that aims to secures a democratic future in an era of technical change. He studied politics at UCLA (B.A.) and George Washington University (M.P.S.), law at the University of North Carolina (J.D.) and Duke University (LL.M.), and public policy as a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs.
